What the behavior is doing
Getting curious about what is motivating your child, and what their response might be helping them accomplish.
Therapy
I work with parents of teenagers and young adults navigating a major transition. The goal is not to tell you how to parent. It is to help you understand yourself, your child, and the relationship between you.
Starting points
There is rarely one clean reason. More often it is a season: a transition that will not settle, a pattern that keeps repeating, a distance that showed up slowly.
Often it sounds like
I offer individual therapy for parents of teenagers and young adults. The work is not a plan for how to fix your child. It is a place to get curious about what is happening, what it is bringing up for you, and how to stay connected without losing yourself.
My office is in Chicago's Ravenswood neighborhood. I see clients Monday through Friday, in person or virtually.
The work
Sessions move at your pace. Some weeks stay close to what happened that day; others reach further back.
Getting curious about what is motivating your child, and what their response might be helping them accomplish.
The fears, expectations, and old experiences the current situation touches, sometimes from long before you were a parent.
Where you and your child each are developmentally, and the patterns that have grown between you.
Your values, boundaries, and sense of self, so that supporting your child does not mean abandoning yourself.
What to expect
You share what is happening and what led you to reach out. Nothing needs to be rehearsed or complete.
Together you and Hannah notice the questions worth staying with, and settle into a rhythm that fits your life.
Trust matters more than technique. There is room to talk openly about whether the work feels right, and to adjust it.

Share a little about what is going on and what it is bringing up for you. There is no need to have it perfectly worded; a few honest sentences are plenty.
